New delhi, March 7

The Congress announced an employment scheme, titled “Bharati Bharosa”, to address unemployment among the youth, offering a range of guarantees if the party is voted to power.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi, during a rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, presented a five-fold guarantee under the programme.

Rahul said once the Congress government was formed, it would immediately fill 30 lakh vacancies lying vacant since long.

He said they would guarantee a one-year apprenticeship and bring in a law, Right to Apprenticeship Act. “This will enable the youth who complete their degrees/diplomas to get one-year apprenticeship with a private or a public sector company with Rs 1 lakh for one year. This, he pointed out, would be the first job for the youth after education, which would be guaranteed.
