CDS launches project to promote India’s military heritage
A project has been launched to conserve and promote India’s military heritage through education and tourism. Called the ‘Shaurya Gatha’, it’s an initiative of the Department of Military Affairs and the United Service Institution (USI).
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan launched it as part of the two-day annual Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) here. The project will identify, restore, and promote key military landmarks, including forts, battlefields, memorials, and museums. It will focus on enhancing the visitor experience through battlefield tourism, and developing border areas. A network of historic sites, supported by informative tours and digital resources, is to be created. It will also help document oral histories and artefacts, preserving the stories of the forces’ sacrifices and achievements.
