BJP leader Vinod Tawde on Friday sent defamation notices to top leaders of the Opposition, demanding an apology or hefty damages for levelling cash-for-vote charges against him.

In the notice to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, LoP Rahul Gandhi and Baramati MP Supriya Sule, Tawde said they had levelled false and baseless allegations against him and damaged his reputation. He said if they didn’t apologise to him in 24 hours, he would move court and seek Rs 100 crore in damages.

Tawde was accused of distributing Rs 5 crore to woo voters by a regional party.
