BSF personnel foil smuggling attempt along Bangladesh border
The BSF on Sunday foiled a smuggling bid along North Bengal’s Raiganj sector of the India-Bangladesh border. It also seized Yaba tablets, also called as ‘madness drug’, worth ~18.5 lakh meant to smuggle from India to the neighbouring nation.
According to BSF sources, security personnel observed the movement of some miscreants on September 15 evening and challenged them to stop. However, they fled to the Bangladesh side. They dumped packets of the tablet on the Indian side before fleeing.
During search, the BSF personnel recovered 3,700 Yaba tablets worth ~18.5 lakh, which were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
Yaba tablets are manufactured in some provinces of Myanmar and are supplied to several south-eastern countries such as Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. These are banned in several nations.
