Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said Bharat Jodo Yatra taught him to ignore unnecessary noise and listen to what is truly important.

Recalling his experience on the second anniversary of the Kanyakumari to Kashmir foot march, Gandhi said in the midst of cheering crowds and slogans, he was able “to tune out the noise and focus entirely on the person next to me — to truly listen”.

“In those 145 days, and the two years since, I’ve listened to thousands of Indians from diverse backgrounds. Each voice has carried wisdom, teaching me something new, and each has represented our beloved Bharat Mata”, Gandhi, who is on a visit to the US, wrote on X.

“The Yatra proved that Indians are inherently loving people. When I started this journey, I said love will conquer hate and hope will defeat fear. Today, our mission remains the same - to ensure the voice of Bharat Mata, the voice of love is heard in every corner of our beloved country,” Rahul wrote.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary incharge of communications, said the yatra led to unprecedented connectivity and collectivity and was a massive booster dose for the party. “It heralded a change in the politics of our country as well,” Ramesh wrote.

In a message posted on X, Gaurav Gogoi, Congress deputy leader in Lok Sabha, wrote, “There is no doubt that the Bharat Jodo Yatra emerged as a unifying factor for the entire country. Lakhs of people from all corners of the country resonated with the message of peace and love shared by Rahul Gandhi”.

Pawan Khera, chief of Congress media and publicity cell, wrote: “The yatra was not just about covering distances. It was about bridging gaps, fostering fraternity and spreading love in a world increasingly divided by hate. The slogan ‘Mohabbat ki Dukan’ resonated deeply, reminding us that in the marketplace of hate, love and compassion are the greatest currencies”.

Congress leaders have linked two back-to-back yatras - one from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on foot and another from Manipur to Mumbai by bus – for the good showing by the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.
