New Delhi, July 13

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday cautioned people against what he termed as “false narratives around jobs” and said every time a major infrastructure project is launched and implemented, jobs are created.

“People should remain cautious of the false narratives being spun against India’s development. The fact is employment is created when bridges are built, railway tracks are laid, roads are constructed and local trains are manufactured… The recently released report on employment by the Reserve Bank of India that speaks of approximately eight crore jobs having been created in the last three to four years has silenced the critics,” he said on a day when the Congress attributed the BJP’s loss in 13 Assembly bypolls on Saturday to distress signs, including unemployment and price rise.

The PM was speaking at an event in Mumbai after launching and laying the foundation stone for Rs 29,400 crore projects in the poll-bound Maharashtra’s Mumbai today. Noting that both small and big investors have enthusiastically welcomed the third term of the NDA government, the PM said a stable government will work with triple the speed in its third term. He added that the rate of employment in the country is directly proportional to infrastructure development.

Addressing the gathering, the PM mentioned the Vadhavan port project which was recently approved by the Centre and said the Rs 76,000 crore project will create more than 10 lakh jobs.

Media should aid expansion of nation’s global image: PM

Modi said the media had a role in expanding India’s global image, which in turn impacts its economy. Speaking at the inauguration of Indian Newspaper Society Towers in Mumbai, he urged newspaper houses to launch digital editions in all UN languages to take the Indian growth story worldwide. “The global presence of Indian media is currently limited,” the PM said, noting that the media had a role in helping make India a developed nation by 2047 by amplifying government campaigns.

PM blesses Ambani’s son after wedding

PM Modi on Saturday blessed the newly wed couple Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant after their star-studded wedding attended by global celebrities, business tycoons and politicians. Modi arrived at the Ambani family owned Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai for the reception. Anant, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani — Asia’s richest man — and Radhika, a pharmaceutical heiress, touched Modi’s feet to seek his blessings. Former UK PMs Tony Blair and Boris Johnson were also on the guest list. PTI
