In his complaint against Modi, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted several statements made by the Prime Minister during rallies in Maharashtra on November 8. Modi allegedly made false claims against Congress leaders and former prime ministers, accusing them of being opposed to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Ramesh argued that Modi’s comments were intended to stir up caste-based and religious animosity. Modi allegedly repeated similar allegations during another rally on November 12, further violating electoral laws, Ramesh said.
In a separate memorandum regarding Amit Shah’s statements, Ramesh pointed to remarks made by the Home Minister during a rally in Jharkhand on November 12. Shah allegedly accused Congress of being opposed to SC, ST, and OBC communities, and of promoting terrorism. He also claimed that Congress was planning to revoke reservations for these communities and give them to a specific religious minority. Ramesh argued that Shah's statements were aimed at inciting communal tensions and manipulating voters on the basis of religion and caste.
The Congress has asked the EC to investigate these allegations thoroughly and to take appropriate action, including banning both Modi and Shah from further election-related activities.
