As many as 55 people affected by Naxalite violence from Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas of Chhattisgarh shared their pain and sorrow with Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence here today.

The Home Minister said the Centre and the Chhattisgarh Government would bring a comprehensive scheme for the overall development of people affected by the LWE in the next three months.

He said through this plan, people affected by the LWE across the country, including Chhattisgarh, would benefit from healthcare facilities, employment opportunities and other welfare schemes.

The Home Minister said those advocating the human rights of Naxalites should also consider the human rights of those who “suffer because of Naxalism”.

The victims met the minister at his residence under the aegis of the Bastar Peace Committee. Shah appealed to Left Wing extremists to abjure the path of violence and join the mainstream.

He expressed the confidence that with the complete elimination of the LWE by March 2026, Bastar would once again become beautiful, peaceful and developed.

On the occasion, the Bastar committee also screened a documentary, highlighting the plight of people affected by Naxalism in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing the victims, Shah said due to the policies of the Central Government, Left Wing extremism had now been restricted to a few districts of Chhattisgarh. He said Naxalism was a threat to both humanity and the internal security of the country.
