Abu Dhabi Crown Prince arrives tomorrow, corridor on agenda
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled Zayed Al Nahyan, is set to arrive in India for a two-day visit from September 9-10. This will mark his first visit and the first engagement New Delhi will have with the next generation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) royalty and government.
During his visit, discussions are expected to cover several key issues, including the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), which aims to connect India to Europe through the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, and onward to the European Union.
Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) India-Mediterranean Business Conclave 2024, highlighted that this corridor “would reduce logistics costs, provide faster connectivity, and secure the movement of goods.”
India and the UAE have already signed a governmental framework agreement on cooperation in the IMEC.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, “The comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE has deepened in a wide range of areas, including political, trade, investment and culture.”
