67 Indians being repatriated from Cambodia

The Indian Embassy at Phnom Penh, Cambodia, has started the repatriation process of the 67 Indian nationals, who were rescued on September 22.

A team of Embassy officials is currently overseeing the repatriation process and was present at the airport to see them off. The first batch of 15 Indian nationals left for the country on September 30, while 24 left on October 1. The remaining 28 will reach India in the course of the next few days, said the Embassy in a post on X on Wednesday.

These 67 persons were rescued by the Cambodian Police, following specific leads by the Embassy. They were lured into cybercrimes by fake agents, who trapped them using fraudulent job offers.

Officials noted, “The Embassy of India continues to monitor the situation closely and remains committed to help Indian nationals trapped in cybercrimes.”
