40 days after chopper crash, HP pilot's body found in Arabian Sea

Nearly 40 days after an Indian Coast helicopter made a forced landing at sea following a snag, the body of the last missing crew member has been located.

The Indian Coast Guard said, "Regretfully, the mortal remains of Comdt RK Rana, Pilot in Command, were recovered on October 10 (Thursday)."

Rana hailed from Himachal Pradesh.

The Coast Guard helicopter, located at Porbandar, was on a mission over the Arabian Sea on September 2 when the accident took place some 55 km out at sea. It was tasked to evacuate an ailing sailor on board a merchant vessel.

At the time of the crash, four persons, including Rana, were on board.

The mortal remains of Comdt Vipin Babu and Pradhan Navik Karan Singh were recovered on  September 3. One person, Gautam Kumar, had survived.
