10 killed, 3 hurt as truck hits tractor in Uttar Pradesh
As many as 10 persons were killed and three others injured when a truck collided with a tractor-trailer carrying labourers in the district early on Friday, the police said.
The incident took place around 1 am on the GT Road between Kachhawan and Mirzamurad areas on the Mirzapur-Varanasi border, Superintendent of Police (Mirzapur) Abhinandan said.
“The tractor-trailer, carrying 13 labourers who were returning from construction work in Bhadohi district, was hit from behind by the truck that went out of control,” the SP said.
“As many as 10 persons died while three others were shifted to the hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger,” the officer said.
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the loss of lives in the accident.
PM Modi also announced a compensation of ~2 lakh to each for the kin of the deceased and ~50,000 to those injured.
