In a major military exercise, the three armed forces, would be conducting joint operations in the Himalayas in the eastern part of India bordering China.

A tri-services exercise named ‘Poorvi Prahar’ (eastern attack) is scheduled to be undertaken from November 10-18 at the Eastern Theatre, a source said.

“The exercise aims to train elements of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force in executing integrated joint operations in the mountainous terrain,” the source added.

Poorvi Prahar was expected to enhance operational readiness and inter-service coordination among the three armed forces. The exercise will feature participation from an array of platforms across all services.

It will include fighter jets, reconnaissance planes, helicopters like Chinook, and the Advance Light Helicopters. The newly inducted M 777 Ultra-Light Howitzer artillery systems will also be fielded in the exercise.

Troops will refine their skills and use the newly inducted cutting-edge technologies like swarm drones, a new set of loitering ammunition. These have significantly transformed modern warfare by improving situational awareness, precision, and speed.

Poorvi Prahar  will establish a more refined ‘common operating picture’, and use devices that operate on satellite communications. A portion of the exercise will utilise artificial intelligence-driven analytics.

This exercise will look to maintain a robust defence posture along its eastern frontier.
