In Palwal district, 98% of procured paddy lifted, no payment to farmers pending
With around 98 per cent lifting of paddy procured by various government agencies in the district, the administration has claimed to have made a payment of 98.14 per cent of the crop to farmers till Monday.
Around 23,602 MT(metric tonnes) of paddy has been procured so far, a payment of Rs 49.52 crore has been released to the farmers for around 23,162 MT lifted and moved to godowns, revealed the sources in the district administration.
No farm fire since Nov 1
Officials have claimed that no incidence of stubble burning has surfaced in Palwal district since November 1. Authorities have issued challans against farmers in 19 cases, totaling to Rs 55,000,this season, which is lower than the last season. A total of 23 FIRs have also been registered for the violations
As the market of Hodal subdivision leads in the process, agencies like Haryana Warehousing Corporation (HWC) and Hafed have procured as much as 5721.5 MT and 2739 MT, respectively, till November 11.
The second largest grain market is in Hasanpur in the district, where a total of 7,760.9 MT of paddy has been procured by these two agencies since the official procurement began last month. The grain markets at Khambi and Palwal subdivisions are placed at third and fourth positions with a procurement of 5,831.8 and 1,549.6 MT, respectively. No procurement has taken place at Hathin market so far, it is revealed.
The lifting percentage is at 97 and 91 in Hodal and Palwal markets, respectively. As regards bajra (millet) a total of 9803.2 MT has been procured by the designated agencies of HWC and Hafed. With the lifting of 90 per cent of the crop till Monday, a similar percentage of the payment has been released to the farmers, said an official of the market committee here.
"The overall lifting percentage comes to 98 percent in the district. Around 23,162 MT of the total 23,602 MT of paddy purchased has been lifted and moved to the godowns already. Accordingly, payment to the farmers has been made. There was no payment at present," said DC Dr Harish Kumar Vashisht.
