Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked three miscreants for snatching a woman’s earrings. Investigating officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said suspects were identified as Labha, a resident of Bajwa Kalan village, Happy, a resident of Bagga village, and Jiti, a resident of Mulewal Araian village. Surinder Kaur, a resident of Mianwal Araian village, complained to the police that she was sitting in a street on August 18 when three bike-borne persons snatched her earrings. The IO said that a case under Sections 304 (snatching) and 3(5) (committing a crime with the common intention) of the BNS had been registered against suspects.

One arrested on charge of assault

Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested a man on the charge of assaulting a villager. Investigating officer (IO) Omesh Kumar said the suspect was identified as Balkar Singh, a resident of Shampur village falling under the Bilga police station. Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Umarpur Kalan village, complained to the police that the suspect assaulted him on September 5 at the Nurmahal taxi stand causing injuries on his mouth and left eye. The IO said a case under Section 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the BNS was registered against the suspect.

Six booked for thrashing couple 

Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked six persons, including a woman, on the charge of assaulting a couple. Investigating officer (IO) Harjit Singh said the suspects were identified as Ranni and Kaku of Thablke village, Babu and his sons Sharif and Mango of Samrai village and Nurdeen of Samrai village. Shaukat Ali of Thablke village complained to the police that he along with his wife Asha was grazing their cattle in village fields on August 23 when the suspects attacked them with weapons leaving them injured. The IO said a case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered against six suspects in this regard.
