New Delhi: A 38-year-old man was stabbed to death by a few people early on Friday in Delhi’s Dwarka area, the police said. The police received information about the incident on Hastsal Road in Uttam Nagar around 2.50 am. Upon reaching the spot, they learnt that Gagan Oberoi, a property dealer, was taken to a hospital following the incident and he died during treatment, a senior police officer said. The victim’s nephew Aryan Oberoi told police that Gagan was standing outside his house when some men picked up a fight with him and one of them stabbed him on his thigh, the official said. An FIR has been registered.

Autorickshaw driver killed

New Delhi: An autorickshaw dr iver was killed after being hit by a car driven by a Delhi Police constable in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri area, police said on Friday. The incident took place on Thursday night when the vehicles had a head-on collision near the Trilokpuri road. According to a police officer, it is suspected that the accident took place as the autorickshaw was coming from the wrong side of the road but it is being further corroborated. The officer said soon after receiving a call, a police team reached the spot and found the damaged vehicles. The autorickshaw driver, Harsh (24), had already been taken to the hospital while the driver of the car, constable Varun Yadav, was present at the spot, the officer said.

New officiating Registrar of Jamia

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has appointed Muhammad Mahtab Alam Rizvi as the officiating registrar of the university, according to an official notification issued on Friday. Rizvi serves as Honorary Director, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution at the university. He will succeed M Nasim Haider, Deputy Registrar-I, who was officiating as registrar of the university for the last few months, the university said.
