In Abohar, DSP’s gunman hurt in clash during poll
A gunman of the Abohar DSP was injured when some miscreants attacked him in an alleged poll-related violence at Azam Wala village, about 16 km from here, on Tuesday night.
DSP Sukhwinder Singh Brar had reached the village along with his team after some people created a ruckus and allegedly tore some papers related to the panchayat election. The police tried to set the process in order. When his team was returning, some miscreants in a Thar vehicle attacked his gunman Lakhbir Singh. He was admitted to the Abohar Civil Hospital for treatment.
The DSP said around 8.15 pm, he had received information from the SDM’s office that someone was illegally distributing election-related slips in Azam Wala following which he immediately reached the village along with his team.
The cop said when he was returning to Abohar in his official vehicle, some people travelling in a Thar car came from behind, stopped the police vehicle and attacked it.
Constable Lakhbir Singh was injured in the attack.
Meanwhile, no case related to the Azam Wala incident was registered till this evening.
