The Delhi Police have busted a syndicate involved in the illegal supply of firearms in North East Delhi arrested two persons in the case.

The accused have been identified as Nadeem and Fazeel, both residents of Seelampur. The police recovered three high-quality pistols, four magazines and 24 live cartridges from them.

The arrests came after a case was registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Crime Branch Police Station on September 18. Police officials said the case was initially registered after seizing two illicit pistols and spare magazines from Sameer Ahmad and Sahil. During interrogation, the duo had revealed that they had been sourcing their weapons from Nadeem and Fazeel in Jafrabad.

“Based on their disclosures, we secured a three-day police remand for the accused to investigate the supply chain and connections. Acting on the information, we conducted raids in the Delhi-NCR region, leading to the arrest of a receiver, Suhaib, from Karawal Nagar,” said an official.

Suhaib (24) was arrested with a pistol and 55 live cartridges. The investigation continued, eventually leading the police to the primary suspects, Nadeem and Fazeel.

On November 4, a police team carried out an operation based on intelligence inputs, officials said. “During interrogation, Nadeem, who has a prior history of similar offences, admitted to supplying weapons on demand for the past six months. His younger brother, Fazeel, a student at IGNOU, was found to be complicit in the criminal activities,” they said.

The investigation revealed that the duo had been procuring illicit arms from Rashid in Jafrabad.
