The police have arrested a person on the charge of doing illegal mining in the wee hours on Wednesday.

The suspect has been indentified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Machali Kalan village.

Kharar Deputy Superintendent of Police Pal Singh said the policemen saw an earth mover operating in the fields of Machali Kalan village.

The cops found a sand-laden trailer. The Deputy Superintendent of Police said Mukesh was driving the tractor-trailer and another person ran away from the spot.

A case under the Mines and Minerals Act has been registered against the duo.OC
