The police arrested Gurcharan Singh, a resident near Dhuri Lines, Azad Nagar Model Town and recovered 27 bottles of illegal liquor from him. The police was patrolling in the area when near Jama Masjid, Shahpur Road, Gurcharan was stopped by the police on suspicion. The police recovered bottles of liquor from him.

In another incident, the police have arrested — Nirmal Singh and Mandeep Kaur — for smuggling illegal liquor. The police recovered 104 bottles of Punjab Commander Black and 24 bottles of Punjab Dollar XXX Rum from them.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
