The police claimed to have busted an illegal arms manufacturing factory in the Anoopgarh area today.

Superintendent of Police Ramesh Maurya said three persons running an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Chak 18 village and two persons carrying illegal weapons in a car have been arrested. He said three illegal country-made pistols and some semi-finished pistols have been seized from their possession, adding that equipment for manufacturing weapons was also seized.

Investigating Officer Vikas Bishnoi said on the basis of a tip, a raid was conducted at the house of Balraj Singh in Chak 18 village. He said Satpal Nayak, Sukhdev Singh and Ajay Nayak were arrested with one illegal country-made pistol and two semi-finished country-made pistols, as well as equipment for making weapons.

The police said two persons, identified as Subhash Nayak of Madhewali Dhani and Sandeep Nayak of Naruwali Dhani, who were going in a car with two illegal country-made pistols from the factory, were also arrested. A case has been registered against them under the Arms Act.

In separate incidents, Hariram Kumhar of Kikkarwali and Pradeep Singh were arrested with 60-kg poppy husk. The police said 8 kg of poppy husk was recovered from the possession of Kalu Ram of Prem Nagar and Ajay Kumar of Dhinganwali village in Abohar. They added the suspects were caught with the narcotics on a motorcycle. The police said cases have been registered against the peddlers under the NDPS Act.
