IIT-Mandi to survey sinking portion of Sarahan temple

Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said that the IIT-Mandi would conduct a survey of the Sarahan temple, a portion of which was sinking for some time now. He chaired a meeting of the temple trust held here.

Other major decisions taken at the meeting included regular update of the temple’s website to ensure that every activity of the trust was shared with the public from time to time.

He said, “The trust will also start a state-of-the-art ambulance service. Permission to purchase an ambulance was also granted in the meeting.”

Besides, a decision was taken to set up a joint board of the trust at prominent places, which would have brief information about the temples under its jurisdiction. A solar system plant would be installed at Shri Hatkoti temple so that hot water could be made available to devotees during the winter.

The Sarahan Mandir Trust provides financial help for the education of talented children of the area. “Now, the trust has decided that a separate fund for scholarship will be created so that it can play a leading role in helping needy students to continue their studies,” the minister said.

In the meeting, the income of the trust was also disclosed. Until September 30, it had earned an income of around Rs 3.96 crore, while around Rs 83.81 lakh was spent on various development works. The trust had also decided to build gau sadans in Rohru and Neerath.

Ambulance service
