Haryana State Women Commission (HSWC) Vice-Chairperson Sonia Aggarwal along with ACP Mukesh Jakhar on Friday reached the IIIT campus to inquire into the matter.
“The matter came to the commission's notice just two days ago and an inquiry is underway into the matter. Not only the woman professor but two girl students also came to the fore today and alleged the same,” said Aggarwal.
“The woman professor alleged that two persons – one professor and an administrative official – were harassing her for around a year. She was being stalked by them and they were using indecent language about her,” the Vice-Chairperson said, adding that the statement of the victim had been recorded and even one girl student had also given a complaint in writing.
Apart from this, statements of the accused professor and an administrative official were recorded to verify the allegations, she said. Earlier, the woman professor raised the issue within the institute and the IIIT Director tried to resolve the issue. However, when the situation did not change, the woman professor filed a complaint to the commission and the police, she added, emphasising that "if anyone is found guilty in the matter, the commission would initiate strict action."
Rai SHO Satender Kumar said a case had been registered against two persons, including a professor, under Sections 75 and 78 of the BNS on the complaint of the IIIT professor and a probe was underway.
