A mahapanchayat of the Hooda khap organised at Basantpur village in Rohtak district on Sunday decided to boycott 'Do Patti' movie as well as OTT platform Netflix as the movie allegedly contains objectionable content about the Jat community and a particular gotra.

As per the organisers, representatives of the Hooda khap from 45 villages attended the mahapanchayat, at which five major decisions were taken regarding the film.

It was decided to initiate legal action against the producer, director and actors of the film and Netflix.

"All of them will be publicly boycotted until they publicly apologise and remove the words defaming the Hooda clan from their film," the khap maintained.

The khap wrote to the Chief Minister as well as the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, seeking time to meet and personally request them to get the "objectionable" content removed.

The mahapanchayat, chaired by khap head Om Prakash Hooda, had authorised Surender Singh Hooda, a member of the khap's high-powered committee, to carry out the correspondence with the CM and Union minister in this regard. "I have written to the CM and the Union minister and sought time from them so that a delegation can meet them to convey our concerns," Surender Hooda told The Tribune today.

The mahapanchayat also warned the Central and state governments to get all such propaganda against the Jat community or any particular gotra/khap removed from various platforms, otherwise it would have serious consequences.

The mahapanchayat also decided to bring the matter to the notice of local MP Deepender Singh Hooda and a former CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

In the fourth decision, the mahapanchayat warned the government that no attempt to damage the social fabric and brotherhood among the 36 castes of Haryana would be tolerated.

It also constituted a six-member committee to take action on the strategy planned in this regard.

It warned that if the desired action was not taken within a month, a big meeting of the community would be called and a strict decision taken, for which the government would be responsible.
