Home Guard booked for rape during pandemic

The police have registered a case against a Home Guard on the charge of raping a woman by giving her intoxicants instead of medicines when she had fallen ill during the first wave of Covid in Fatehabad town.

The police spokesperson said that the accused Home Guard jawan was deployed at a place where the administration has imposed movement restrictions after a case of Covid was reported from the locality.

The jawan reportedly visited the house in the same locality where the woman was residing. The complainant said that she was ill and sought help from the jawan for getting her medicines. But the accused brought intoxicants instead of medicines and she fell unconscious after taking those.

She alleged that the accused raped her and also made a video. Later, he started blackmailing her. She alleged that the accused also extorted Rs 2.5 lakh from her.
