Hockey clinics for Punjab’s budding players
Hockey Punjab is planning to organise training clinics for junior players at major centres in the state. The clinics will be organised with the support of the Punjab Sports Department and in cooperation with Ludhiana’s Aryan Hockey Club, which will finance this project.
Former India player and coach Sukhvir Singh Grewal, who is the president of the Aryan Hockey Club, said the clinics will be conducted in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Mohali, Ferozepur and Faridkot.
“Every year, six to eight clinics will be held at each centre. All participants will be provided refreshment, lunch and playing equipment. This programme is research-based on the principles of teaching and long-term athlete development plan. In every clinic, hockey experts and physical development experts will be invited for teaching and demonstration,” he said.
