Hoax bomb threat hits flight operations
Normal operations at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, were hit today following hoax bomb threat in two flights.
The X account of an airline had received information about a security threat to the Hyderabad-Chandigarh and Chandigarh-Ahmedabad flights following which protocols kicked in at the airport. Passengers had to wait for three hours as cops completed the security checks.
The Hyderabad-Chandigarh flight landed at the airport around 10:48 am following which it was isolated. The aircraft and passengers were checked thoroughly. The Chandigarh-Ahmedabad flight took off from the airport around 12 noon. After it landed in Ahmedabad, it was isolated and its passengers were thoroughly checked. The aircraft was checked too. The threats turned out to be false.
Winter schedule starts tomorrow
Meanwhile, the winter schedule at the airport will start on October 27. Two new flights, Guwahati and Varanasi, have been added in the domestic circuit. No new international flight is in the offing as of now.
Airport officials said minor changes were made in the flight timings in view of the changed weather conditions and visibility during early morning and late nights in winters.
