Hisar region records 70.1% turnout, Adampur leads with 75.2%
A cool, pleasant morning marked the beginning of polling in the Hisar region today, with voters — particularly women — showing up early to cast their votes. Despite polling officially starting at 7 am, queues began forming in rural areas as early as 6 am. The polling remained steady throughout the day, though urban areas saw a comparatively lower turnout.
While the District Election Office (DEO) has yet to release final polling figures, preliminary data from the Election Commission of India indicates that the Adampur Assembly segment recorded the highest voter turnout at 75.2%. Overall, Hisar district saw an estimated 70.1% voter turnout.
In Barwala’s Bahbalpur village, 70-year-old Ramchander was the first to cast his vote at his polling booth, where about 50 voters had gathered early in the morning. “I need to rush to the field for cotton picking, which is at its peak these days. It’s a busy season, with some farmers also sowing carrots and mustard. So, I came at six in the morning to vote before heading to work,” he said.
Minor clashes were reported in the Narnaund Assembly segment, where a heated contest is taking place between BJP’s Capt Abhimanyu and Congress’s Jasvir Singh. Tensions flared in Khanda Kheri and Data village, with reports of a scuffle between Congress and INLD supporters at a government school in Data. Villager Ramesh Kumar mentioned that bogus polling was suspected, but security personnel quickly dispersed the troublemakers.
In Arya Nagar village within the Nalwa Assembly segment, 89-year-old Kalawati proudly voted, saying, “I never miss an election. I came with my daughter-in-law. We vote as per our wishes — it’s a secret.”
Hisar town, however, saw slower polling throughout the day. At the community centre in Sector 15, which houses polling booths 50 and 51 (part of Nalwa segment), the presiding officer reported that 472 out of 1,030 votes had been cast by 4 pm. “Voters are arriving consistently, though there hasn’t been a rush,” he noted.
As per the latest data, voter turnout across the seven Assembly segments in Hisar stands at approximately 70.1%, with Adampur leading at 75.2%, followed by Narnaund (74.4%), Barwala (73.3%), Nalwa (71.2%), Hansi (68.8%), Uklana (reserved) at 66.6%, and Hisar at 61.3%.
