Hisar boy tops UPSC’s EPFO exam, Bhiwani girl bags second rank

The top two ranks of the UPSC’s Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (EPFO) examination has been bagged by Haryana residents.
The topper in the exam, Sachiv Nehra, is a resident of Narnaund town in Hisar district while the second rank has been bagged by Aparna Gill, who is a resident of Vidya Nagar in Bhiwani town.
Sachiv Nehra, 35, is currently an Inspector with the Central Income Tax Department in Delhi.
Talking to The Tribune, Sachiv said that he had also appeared for the Civil Services (Mains) examination twice and also cleared the Haryana Civil Services examination. “I also appeared in the Uttarakhand PCS examinations and am waiting for the results,” he said.
Sachiv said that he took assistance from an online application for preparing for the examination. “I was sure about performing well but attaining the top rank came as a surprise,” he said, adding that about 9.5 lakh aspirants appeared in the examination, under which there are about 150 vacancies.
Sachiv said that he got selected in the Income Tax Department after completing BTech from Bhiwani. He pursued his schooling in Narnaund and Jind and then went to BITS-Bhiwani to pursue BTech. “I have been aiming for the Civil Services examinations since I completed my graduation,” he said.
The second rank, too, was bagged by a Haryana resident – Aparna Gill. Apana had also appeared in the interview for the civil services examination and also cracked the Haryana Civil Services examination twice in the past.
She said she believed in self-study which helped her concentrate more on her strengths in reading. “I found that self-study is the best way to prepare for these examinations. The support of family is always important,” she said. She said though her father’s death in 2022 came as a setback, she remained determined about excelling in the examination.
