'Yellow' alert in Himachal, heavy rain likely on September 18

Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rainfall on September 18 as the state's meteorological department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Shimla, Solan, Kullu, Sirmaur, Kangra and Mandi districts.

Thunderstorms along with lightning were likely to occur in isolated pockets of these areas, said the department.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in Shimla, Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts on Tuesday also.

Rainfall would continue in low and mid-hills of the state till September 20 while weather in higher reaches of the state would remain dry till September 22, said the department.

Shimla, where weather was partly cloudy on Tuesday morning, recorded minimum temperature of 14.8°C.

Solan recorded 18.8°C minimum temperature, Mandi 19.2°C, Bilaspur 22.3°C, Sundernagar 19.6°C, Una 21°C, Nahan 21.4°C, Kangra 19.2°C, Chamba 18.7°C, Kalpa 9.5°C and Keylong recorded 7.3°C.
