A workshop for master trainers of school management committees (SMCs) was organised at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Chamba, under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, on Friday. The workshop was conducted in two phases.

In the first phase, trainers from the educational blocks of Kalehal, Tissa, Sundla, Salooni, Banikhet, Chowari and Sihunta were trained.

In the second phase, participants from the educational blocks of Bharmour, Garola, Gahar, Chamba, Hardaspura, Mehla, Kiyani and Pangi took part.

During the workshop, SMC District Coordinator Safina Sheikh outlined the roles and responsibilities of SMCs, emphasising their contributions to school development.

Deputy Director of Education (Quality) Bhag Singh encouraged the SMC members to actively participate in the development of schools and highlighted the vital role of collaboration between schools and the community in establishing model institutions.

Resource persons at the workshop provided in-depth insights on various topics.

Dr Rashi Jandrotia talked about the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020, Dr Kavita Bijlwan discussed community mobilisation and the Vidyanjali scheme, Arvind Omprakash elaborated on the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) programme, Deepak Sharma spoke about SMCs’ role in civil works, Rohit Sharma discussed PM SHRI and PARAKH initiatives and Imran Khan talked about the Vidyanjali portal. Chhavi Champaliya discussed the issue of out-of-school children.

Concluding the workshop, the Deputy Director of Education called for increased community participation in school development and encouraged active involvement in the Vidyanjali scheme for the overall progress of schools.
