The state committee of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Wednesday criticised the state government over its proposal to recruit teachers in government schools through outsourcing, and demanded that the state government roll back the decision.

The SFI also urged the state government to focus on regular recruitments, and to provide stable employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

Terming the proposal as anti-youth and detrimental to the state’s education system, SFI state secretary Dinit Denta said the government had also cancelled previously approved recruitments, and replaced them with outsourced appointments.

The government introducing such policies had further exacerbated the challenges faced by students and job aspirants, he added.

“Competitive exam aspirants, who prepare diligently with hopes of securing government jobs, have been let down by the lack of recruitment over the past two years. The HP Staff Selection Commission remained non-functional for much of this period, with results of previous examinations released only after prolonged protests by youth,” he said.

He also hit out at the state government over its two years tenure and said as the Congress-led state government neared the completion of its two-year term; preparations for celebratory events were underway. However, the youth who supported the government with the hope of addressing corruption, unemployment and systemic inefficiencies were feeling betrayed.

“While the government has consistently cited financial constraints, the ministers continue to enjoy a lavish lifestyle which contradicts the claims of economic difficulties,” he added.

The SFI also warned the state government of launching a mass movement against it if the government fails to revoke the proposal.
