What our readers say: Call for better amenities at Bijli Mahadev
With the work on the Bijli Mahadev ropeway in Kullu underway, the government must consider enhancing the amenities in the area. A large number of tourists and pilgrims will visit the place which lacks basic amenities, leave aside scientific disposal of solid, wet, plastic or hazardous waste. The amenities should be developed before the ropeway becomes operational. Every year, tonnes of garbage littered by the visitors is collected by social organisations. The company undertaking the operations should be made liable to maintain cleanliness and sanctity of the area. —Aditya, Kullu
Encroachments by hawkers
As vendors continue to occupy roads, especially the rafting dropping point near Vaishno temple in Ramshila, this has led to a parking crisis. The available space has been encroached upon by hawkers leading to frequent traffic congestion. Due to this, taxis and tourist vehicles have to be parked on the roadside, which becomes a traffic hazard. The administration should remove these hawkers so that tourists don’t have to face any inconvenience. —Jagroop, Kullu
Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
