Water sports at Pong Dam to boost adventure tourism: CM
To harness the tourism potential of Kangra district, the Himachal Pradesh government has approved the launch of water sports activities, including cruises and jet skiing, at the world-famous Pong Wetland. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced this initiative while addressing the closing ceremony of the two-day Indora Festival in Kangra.
Lauding the efforts of the local community for organising the festival for the first time, Sukhu noted that such events are instrumental in spreading awareness against drug abuse. He also declared that the festival would be celebrated as a district-level event from next year.
Highlighting developmental initiatives, the CM shared updates on the expansion of Kangra Airport and the construction of a state-of-the-art Rs 300-crore milk processing plant at Dhagwar.
He said that the utsav would be celebrated as a district-level festival next year.
Sukhu said the government had taken some viable steps to strengthen rural economy in the state. “A decision to enhance price of procuring buffalo milk from Rs 40 to Rs 55 and cow milk from Rs 30 to Rs 45 per liter, enhancement of daily wage under MNREGA from Rs 240 to Rs 300 and procurement of maize produced through natural farming at Rs 30 per kg and announcement of support price Rs 40 per kg for wheat growing through natural farming are some major steps that the government has taken recently,” he said.
