Villagers refute sexual harassment allegations against Kullu teacher
Kullu, July 8
Some villagers have come out in support of the schoolteacher of a Government Middle School against whom the Project Coordinator of the Child Welfare Committee, Kullu, had registered a complaint on July 6 alleging that several girl students were sexually harassed by him. As many as 16 persons submitted an application to the Kullu SP today, terming the allegations against the teacher as concocted and false.
Residents alleged that a woman teacher had pressurised the parents to make false allegations against the teacher due to a personal grudge. They further alleged that five persons out of the seven had withdrawn the complaint against the teacher. They had urged the SP and Kullu DC to investigate the matter fairly.
Meanwhile, the accused was on leave when the matter came up. The police have registered a case under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the POCSO Act. Kullu SP Karthikeyan Gokulachandran said the accused was being interrogated and all aspects of the case being looked into.
