A supporter of the Dev Bhumi Sangharsh Samiti died of heart attack while participating in a protest rally at Gandhi Chowk in Hamirpur today.
The deceased was identified as Virender Parmar of Kargu village in the Nadaun subdivision of the district.
It was learnt that Virender fell on the road while he was walking in the rally and was taken to the Government Medical College immediately. He was declared brought dead at the hospital.
ASP Rajesh Kumar here said the body was handed over to the family after post mortem.
Earlier, addressing a gathering at Gandhi Chowk, Surjit Thakur, district president of Dev Bhumi Sangharsh Samiti, said the Hindu community must stay united as it was under threat.
He added that people with forged identities were roaming in villages and targeting innocent people. He said a vigil is required to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
