Valmiki Jayanti celebrated with devotion in Chamba
The birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki was celebrated with enthusiasm and devotion at the Valmiki Temple in Bakloh Cantonment today. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania was the chief guest of the event that began with a flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by traditional prayers and rituals.
Pathania said that Maharishi Valmiki was a revered poet and the creator of the epic Ramayana, whose life offers numerous inspirational lessons. He added that the transformation of Valmiki’s life from one of hardship and mistakes to one of enlightenment showed that change was always possible and everyone had the potential for improvement. “Valmiki’s intense meditation and self-realisation serve as a reminder that with patience and determination, any goal can be achieved,” he added.
Pathania said that how Valmiki’s literary contributions spread the message of humanity, morality and righteousness, showing that art and writing could positively influence society. The Speaker said, “Valmiki’s life teaches us to pursue truth and righteousness, which are the core principles of human existence and encourages us to bring positive changes in our lives and work for the welfare of others.”
Pathania announced a contribution of Rs 2 lakh for the development of civic facilities, including toilets, at the temple complex. He also listened to the concerns of local residents and addressed several grievances on the spot.
Earlier, Ashok Sidhu, president of the Valmiki Welfare Association, welcomed and honoured the Speaker. He also took up local development issues with Pathania.
