Una village to be developed as adventure sports hub

Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal inspected the water sports facility near the Gobind Sagar reservoir of Bhakra Dam in Androuli village of the Bangana subdivision. The site is being developed as an adventure sports facility under the aegis of the Kutlehar Tourism Development Society, chaired by the DC.
The DC said after receiving the NOC from the Bhakra Beas Management Board, the Tourism Department has notified Androuli as an adventure sports site in the reservoir.
He said Gharvasada village, located in the Sola Singi Dhaar mountain range, has also been notified as a take-off point for paragliding, adding that the picturesque lake and the surrounding mountain ranges have the potential to be developed as a tourism hub in the district.
The DC said CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during his Androuli visit last week, had directed the district administration to look for activities which can be initiated here for the development of tourism. He said officials from departments allied to tourism have been called for interaction in this regard.
The DC said a jetty and angling hut have been constructed in Androuli, while speed boats have also been bought for various activities.
He added that boats like shikaras would be introduced for tourists to book and stay, adding that these will be run by locals, giving them an opportunity to increase their livelihood opportunities.
