Una girls punch their way to top at dist-level boxing meet

The two-day HP District-Level Girls Under-17 Boxing Championship concluded at Paras Public School in Bhawarna. Rajesh Bhandari, president of HP State Boxing Association, presided over the closing ceremony.

Principal Neelam Rana welcomed guests and other dignitaries. Vanshika Goswami, World Boxing Champion, was also present during the event. Around 105 girls competed in the championship. The girls from Una district grabbed the first position under the training of Sonia Rai, while the girls of Kinnaur secured second position under the coaching of Divya Shakti. Swastika, Reet Raj, Kritika, Astha and Yashika from Paras Public School got gold medals, while Charvi and Rashmi bagged silver medals.

Addressing the participants, the chief guest said the girls should be encouraged to be like Mary Kom, Sarita Devi and Zareen and they should make the nation proud . He also appreciated the facilities provided by the school management to the participants and giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent. The State Boxing Association awarded the school with the trophy.

Mahesh Chand Katoch, school director, and Neelam Rana presented Pahadi topi and shawl to the dignitaries and also presented mementos, medals and appreciation certificates to all participants. The director gave Rs 100 each to all participants.
