In an accident near Gaggal in Kangra district, two youths lost their lives, and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision between an HRTC Volvo bus and a car last night.

According to sources, the car, carrying three youths, collided with the bus traveling in the opposite direction. Locals rushed to the scene and managed to extract the occupants from the mangled car after significant effort. All three were immediately taken to Tanda Medical College for treatment.

Two of the car’s occupants, identified as Dhruv Kumar from Dhugyari village and Pankaj from Jasoor in Kangra district, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The third youth, a resident of Raunkhar village in Nagrota Bagwan, is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.

One hurt in road mishap

A man sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between two cars near the Sankat Mochan Temple on National Highway 5 here on Sunday morning.

The injured, identified as Ajit Singh (60) of Taradevi, was traveling in a car (HP 01 A 3165) that collided with another vehicle (DL 3 C BM 3259) coming from the opposite direction.

According to police, the accident occurred around 10 am when the driver of the taxi lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the collision. Ajit Singh was immediately rescued by police personnel and rushed to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The mishap also caused a temporary disruption in traffic along the highway. Police officials removed the damaged vehicles from the scene and restored normal traffic flow soon after.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
