Two-day sports competition for differently abled kids concludes
A two-day sport competition for differently abled children, organised by the Rotary Helpage Foundation in Saliyana, concluded here last evening. The event was held on October 22 and 23 in memory of Dr Shiv Kumar Sharma, the founder of the Palampur Rotary Helpage Foundation.
Dr Sudhir Salhotra, director of the Rotary Eye Foundation, was the chief guest at the event. Dr Salhotra encouraged all participants and awarded the winners.
In his speech, he said the event provided an excellent opportunity to differently abled children to showcase their skills.
Dr Vivek Sharma, general secretary of the Palampur Rotary Helpage Foundation, said 83 differently abled children from four special schools in Kangra district — Suryaoday Social School, Khaniyara; Harmony Special School, Dharamsala; Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development, Siddhbari; and Rotary Seva Ashram, Saliyana, participated in various sports events.
He highlighted the enthusiasm and participation of the children from special schools, and presented a report on the events organised during the competition.
Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development, Siddhbari, was declared the overall winner at the event.
Students who excelled in various events will participate in state-level basketball, football, badminton, and volleyball competitions.
