The Tribal Pride Festival, celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of legendary tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda, will take place on November 15 at the Old Circuit House in Keylong, Lahaul-Spiti. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar announced the event, which is centred around showcasing tribal heritage and increase awareness about development initiatives like the Dharti Aba Tribal Village Utkarsh Abhiyan (Earth Father Tribal Village Development Campaign).

The festival will include cultural programmes, a marathon and a painting competition, with prizes awarded to winners in each category. The DC emphasised the importance of informing the community about the Dharti Aba initiative through hoardings and banners displayed in gram sabhas of selected village panchayats, as well as during gram sabha meetings scheduled for the day.

To ensure the event’s success, various departments have been mobilised. The Health and AYUSH Departments will set up free health camps for attendees, while Agriculture, Horticulture and Forest Departments will organise exhibitions. Additionally, the District Rural Development Authority will support self-help groups in operating food stalls at the venue.
