Tribal affairs minister Negi lays stone of Eklavya Residential School Lahaul-Spiti's Kukumseri
In a significant development for the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti, Tribal Development, Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi laid the foundation stone for the Eklavya Residential School complex at Kukumseri. The project, which would cost Rs 48 crore, includes the construction of an academic block and hostels for students.
On the occasion, Negi announced that the first phase of the project would provide residential facilities for 480 students, with an investment of Rs 21 crore allocated for the hostel building, which would be constructed using free fabricated technology by the Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation HP Ltd.
Negi emphasised on the government’s commitment to provide quality education on the doorstep for children in the tribal areas, while instructing revenue officials to prepare a master plan for the school’s land and expedite infrastructural development under FRA-2 guidelines.
Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana expressed gratitude to Minister Negi for this initiative, while noting that the construction of new facilities would enhance educational opportunities in the district. She assured that quality standards would be maintained in the construction work and progress reports would be closely monitored.
The event also featured a cultural programme organised by school children. The local administration was represented by various officials, including District Council Chairperson Bina Devi and Superintendent of Police Mayank Chaudhary during the inauguration.
