Trekker rescued from Lahaul-Spiti peak
A trekker was rescued last evening near Yunam Peak in tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti, following a coordinated operation by the district police.
Part of a group of nine persons who were navigating the treacherous terrain, the trekker went missing while exploring the area around Yunam Peak at an elevation of 20,300 feet.
Upon receiving reports about the missing trekker early this morning, a rescue team led by ASI Ravi Dutt, HC Vijay Kumar and constable Mohit Shanil was rushed to the spot. The team, equipped with specialised rescue gear and accompanied by experienced trekkers, undertook a demanding six -kilometre ascent to locate the missing trekker.
Lahaul and Spiti Superintendent of Police Mayank Chaudhary stated that “Despite facing extreme weather conditions, the team successfully reached the trekker and ensured his safe return. The rescue highlights the commitment of the Lahaul Spiti police to uphold the safety and security of all in the region.”
The Superintendent of Police praised the team’s dedication and swift action to locate the missing trekker.
