Transparent governance, employee welfare identity of state govt: MLA
Welfare of employees and pensioners and transparent governance have become the identity of the Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh. Employees here will play an important role in fulfilling the government’s commitment to making the state self-reliant by the year 2027. Keeping in mind the contribution of the employees in the development of the state, the government has taken many decisions for their welfare.
Deputy Chief Whip of the Congress in the Himachal Assembly and MLA Shahpur, Kewal Singh Pathania, said this in a statement issued to the media from Shahpur in Kangra today. He said on the occasion of Diwali, the government of CM Sukhu paid the salary and pension due for the month of October to all employees and pensioners on October 28.

Along with this, the government has worked to pay the entire outstanding arrears of pensioners of 75 years or more. A budget provision of Rs 10 crore has been made for medical reimbursement to pensioners and the government has issued instructions to all departments to settle all their pending medical reimbursement bills. He said the state government had announced to give 4 per cent installment of dearness allowance to the employees and pensioners from January 1, 2023, which would benefit 1.80 lakh employees and 1.70 lakh pensioners of the state.
He said as soon as the government came to power, it secured the future of 1.36 lakh employees by implementing the old pension scheme and giving them social security. He said the state government was committed to giving priority to the welfare of employees and pensioners and ensuring adequate assistance to them. The state government would also fulfill other liabilities and legitimate demands of the employees and pensioners with time, he said.
Pathania said along with this, introducing transparent governance, the government, as soon as it came to power, dissolved the former Staff Selection Commission Hamirpur, which had become a den of corruption, and took action against the accused who were playing with the future of youths. After that, a new State Staff Selection Commission was formed to secure the future of youths of the state. Within a short time, the government declared the results which were pending for years and provided employment to youths of the state. Along with providing employment to the deserving youths of the state, transparent governance is the priority of the Sukhu government, he said.
