Training for BSF medicos begins at AIIMS in Bilaspur

A three-day basic, emergency and trauma care training course began at the Skills and Simulation Centre, AIIMS, Bilaspur, for BSF medical officers and paramedics today.

AIIMS Executive Director VS Negi said 20 medical officers and paramedics of the BSF from Jalandhar were participating in the camp. The intensive programme aimed to enhance emergency response capabilities through comprehensive training modules, including hands-on practice and the simulation of various emergency scenarios, he added. He said, in total, 80 BSF personnel would be trained in four batches. Participants would be trained in essential life-saving skills such as basic life support (BLS), management of time-sensitive emergencies, trauma, shock, burns and musculoskeletal injuries, Negi added.

He said the course also featured a workshop on both basic and advanced airway management techniques.

The initiative was the first of its kind and aimed to pave way for future collaboration with other institutions and security forces to improve trauma care capabilities. BSF DIG (Punjab) Dr Neeta Paliwal was among those present at the inaugural function of the event. He said a total of four batches of BSF personnel would undergo this specialised training over the next three months for strengthening their readiness to handle critical emergency situations effectively.
