At a crucial meeting with officials in Keylong to discuss the enhancement of tourism activities in Lahaul-Spiti, Director of Tourism and Commissioner of Labour and Employment, Mansi Sahay Thakur, urged the district administration for the swift completion of all formalities related to the construction of proposed helipads in the district.

Thakur urged the Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar to expedite the process of initiating aerial services for tourists considering the current state and available infrastructure at the Stingri helipad.

Thakur highlighted that the development of the proposed helipads would not only improve health services and transportation but also boost tourism, winter sports, and adventure activities, thereby providing a new identity to the district on the global tourism map.

In addition, Thakur assured that workers and labourers in the district would soon benefit from welfare schemes operated by the Labour Welfare Board. She called upon department officials to organise camps in Lahaul-Spiti to make people aware of these schemes.

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar presented the development plan for unexplored tourist spots and the current status of the existing tourist sites. He also revealed a plan for wellness tourism, using ancient medical practices and trans-Himalayan herbal medicines, which has been submitted for approval to the state government.
