Thieves target post-mortem house in Paonta Sahib
In a shocking incident, thieves broke into the post-mortem house in Paonta Sahib, under the jurisdiction of the Paonta Sahib police station, stealing valuable equipment including an air-conditioner and water taps.
The theft was discovered by Hemant Sharma, coordinator of the Saral Sanskar Sanstha, who found the building’s lock broken when he arrived to store a body. Upon inspection, he noticed that the air-conditioner, installed by the organisation seven years ago to preserve bodies during extended identification processes, was missing.
The air-conditioner had been installed by the Saral Sanskar Sanstha to prevent body decomposition, a public-interest initiative aimed at improving post-mortem facilities. Some parts of the stolen air-conditioner were found scattered near the site.
