The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given its consent to starting super speciality courses in neuro surgery and gastroenterology departments of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today.

Thakur said that this would pave the way for producing super specialists in these departments and strengthening higher health education in the state, besides providing specialised healthcare services to the people on their doorsteps. He added that this would also provide an opportunity to young doctors to pursue specialised courses in the state.
