Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the state government was committed to providing quality healthcare services to people. As part of the initiative, one health institution in every Assembly constituency was being upgraded as a model institution and Rs 1 crore had been allocated to each of them for the purchase of necessary machinery and equipment, he added.

The Chief Minister flagged off a mobile clinic bus service of Tonglen, a Tibetan NGO, at the Circuit House in Dharamsala. He said that an action plan was being implemented to improve health and education services.

Sukhu said that emergency services were being developed by upgrading the casualty department in medical colleges in the state. He added that keeping in view the growing number of cancer patients, the government was establishing state-of-the-art cancer institutes in various parts of the state to offer advanced treatment.
